Vitamins and Supplements for Everyday Health
Vitamins and supplements are wonderful for healing and for those that are suffering from illness, but what about for the already healthy people? If there’s nothing wrong with your health, should you still take vitamins and supplements? The answer is yes, because while vitamins and supplements can help those who are ill, they are really better used as preventative medicine for healthy people rather than cures for the sick. Most people become ill in the first place because they have deprived themselves of the proper nutrients they need over a long period of time.
Our everyday life robs us of important nutrients all the time. Whether you feel it or not, many of our lifestyles today are not particularly healthy. Many of us do not get the recommended daily amount of five servings of vegetables everyday. Then there are substances such as excess alcohol, caffeine, smoking and fast food which take away nutrients we are not even getting a proper amount of anyway. Therefore, if you are feeling drained, taking a great multivitamin can help you to replace the nutrients your body has been missing. Natural vitamin supplements are just a great boost to aiding your body from those robbed nutrients.
A multivitamin is inexpensive and easy to take. A multivitamin will also have the majority of the correct dosage of vitamins and supplements that will help you maintain a healthy feeling on a daily basis. This includes vitamin A, B complex, C, E, D, calcium, magnesium, zinc, potassium, selenium, copper and chromium. Even if you are feeling healthy, there are two reasons to take a multivitamin. The first is to get the vitamins and minerals you aren’t getting in your diet, and the second is to replace the vitamins and minerals you are depleting because of bad eating habits.
Drinking a large amount of caffeine will deplete your body of inositol, biotin, zinc, and potassium. Zinc is a mineral that boosts your immune system and is essential for fighting off the common cold and flu. Potassium helps keep your blood pressure in check. If you are taking vitamins and supplements to replace what caffeine is depleting from your system, make sure to take them only with water. Taking vitamins with a caffeinated beverage will leach the nutrients right out of the vitamin, and they will merely pass through your body.
If you overly indulge in cured ham, bacon or sausage, check out the ingredients. If you are eating any pork with nitrates, then you are sapping your body of selenium, niacin, vitamin C and vitamin E. Vitamin C and E are the two most important vitamins you can have in your system as protection from heart disease, cancer, brain malfunction, premature aging, and other major illnesses. If you are in the middle of menopause or any other change set off because of age, it is important to replenish what your body needs for optimal functioning with vitamins and supplements.
Overly imbibing in alcohol literally depletes each and every vitamin and supplement you can think of and therefore should be avoided when you can. When you drink too much alcohol, you are depleting your body of magnesium, vitamin B complex, and vitamins C, D, E, and K. Since these vitamins are needed by the body to function properly, alcohol can have very damaging effects to the system.
Even the simple items can cause you to lose the vitamins and minerals that your body requires to function fully and properly. One example is how flouride can deplete the amount of vitamin C that is in your system. While this might seem nit-picky, hopefully you understand that even if you are the healhiest of people you should still take vitamins and nutritional supplements to keep your body running in peak condition. Without them, you are looking at experiencing unnecessary illnesses and overall poor health and wellbeing.
