Natural Bodybuilding Routines Are Not a Short Term Fitness Plan

Everyone has their own path to physical fitness and overall well being. Some choose yoga, others Pilates, some go for jogging and yet others opt for bodybuilding. For bodybuilders and practitioners of yoga, there is more than exercise that goes into getting in shape and achieving mental equilibrium – it’s a lifestyle.

Natural bodybuilding routines – which don’t use hormones or steroids or the latest gizmo – are not for the weekend exerciser.  They are for those people who are seriously committed to making the best body they can with what they have, much as in the way a sculptor chisels a work of art from a block of marble.

Think Tortoise

While you may wish that you could build huge muscles overnight, you’ll have to be patient. Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither are the kinds of muscles which competitive bodybuilders have. Avoid any program which promises instant results – remember that bodybuilding is something which happens over time and you need to have dedication to your goal in order to attain it. You will need to change many of your habits and place your focus on your natural bodybuilding routine.

It may be the case that a few years are needed to build up your muscles to the point you’d like. Even once you have reached your initial goals, you may still not be prepared for the world of competitive bodybuilding. Remember what Aesop said about the tortoise and the hare: “slow and steady wins the race”.

Safety Must be Paramount

Before you begin your new natural bodybuilding regimen, consult with your doctor to make sure that you are in good health; if you are not in good enough condition to take up bodybuilding, you could be doing more harm than good. Once you get the all clear from your doctor, you’re ready to begin.

You shouldn’t do weight lifting every day. Your muscles will get the greatest benefit if they are allowed some time to rest in between workouts. On your off days from weight lifting, engage in other fitness activities. You can also take on a personal trainer, join your local gym or follow exercises in books and DVDs of natural body building routines.

You could also take some classes at a community college or your neighborhood YMCA. These classes offer safe and fun workouts at a fraction of the cost of a personal trainer.

Natural bodybuilding routines should have plenty of stretches and some aerobic exercise; this will get you warmed up for weightlifting. Make sure not to over exercise, your body will react by burning muscle mass for energy.

Start off your natural bodybuilding routines with very short workouts, as short as a few minutes. Your body will be capable of handling longer sets before long and you can extend them as you become stronger.
